MS studentDr. T is seeking a highly motivated student to join the labgroup in Fall 2024. The MS student will be responsible for acoustic bat surveys within both urban and forested areas. This project will include regular meetings with biologists from the National Park Service and from state wildlife agencies. The student will be required to complete acoustic surveys based on information needs of managers and then the student will design and implement a study that compares bat activity and amount foraging within specific habitats. A graduate assistantship (research assistantship or teaching assistantship) will be provided. Assistantships include a living stipend, tuition waver, and health benefits.

Postdoc in Wildlife ManagementDr. T anticipates hiring a postdoc to analyze data that has been collected over the last several years. Data sets include over 1 million wildlife photos that have already been processed and GPS collar data on several species. The scholar will be a member of the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. Scope of the research projects will be refined based on the applicants. SURFUConn provides funding for undergraduate research. Dr. T mentors SURF students who have undertaken independent projects and most undergraduates produce peer-reviewed publications. Undergrads should write their SURF proposals in the fall semester. Email Dr. T early, which means before or during Thanksgiving Break. Successful undergraduate students have a drafted proposal before fall semester ends.

Assist at the Mesocosm FacilityEvery year Dr. T accepts applications to volunteer at the mesocosm facility. Its a great way to learn about research. Yet working with animals is a big commitment that takes a lot of training before you can start. Apply by Feb 15th by emailing Dr. T your resume. Freshman and sophomores, this is your chance to get a research job where "previous experience" is not required. There will be interviews and 1-3 students will be invited to assist from March - July. This opportuntiy pairs well for undergrads taking one summer course or a long August vacation. You will learn the basics of experimental design, data management, and animal care.

Graduate PositionsStudents advised by Tracy are in Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. She only takes on graduate students on funded projects that include RA support, tuition, and health benefits. A student might get the opportunity to TA for one semester. Open positions are typically posted to Texas A&M wildlife job board, but Dr. T welcomes emails with an attached resume at any time.
